About Spring Valley Senior Center
Members generally enjoy craft activities in the morning and play cards or games in the afternoon. We serve lunches Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday from 11:30 to 12:30. The public is welcome, but please call a day ahead for reservations. Catered meals on Tue and Thur are $5.50 + tax. Cook-our own meals are Monday, with freezer potluck on Fridays are $5 + tax. Jigsaw puzzles, a lending library, and computers are available for use. We have monthly carry-in meals, at lunch the 3rd Friday for Nov-March. Euchre Parties are held the 2nd Friday evenings at 5:30, and on fifth Fridays at 5:30 when they occur.
We occasionally have special dinners and holiday parties, and craft, art, or quilt classes. The center is operated by an 8-member board: Judy York, president, Jane Martin, vice president, Alice Caldwell, secretary, Tammy Garcia, treasurer, Joy Ferguson, Joyce Ponder, Sandie Thompson, and Roberta Rathweg, membership chairman.
Our executive director is Vicky Mumford and our activity director is Mary Place. We are funded by a Spring Valley Township seniors levy, a grant from Greene County Council on Aging, our membership fees of $15 per year, sale of our crafts, and donations from our supporters. (We are a 501c3 non-profit). Our building is available for evening/weekend rentals for parties.
